Disability Awareness Week 2011: “Talent makes no difference”

BlueLink centre in Paris welcomed in its premises the exposition “Talent makes no difference”. The exposition was given in honour of the National Week of Work of Disabled People, held every year in November.

Designed by Pascal Parsat and conceptualized by Agnès Cappadoro, the exposition introduces 12 artists in a situation of handicap. It features twelve artists from Homer to Glenn Gould, who influenced our history and common awareness of the 9th century B. C. up to now and who transcended their art by their singularity.

The series of portraits allows the employees to become sensible to the handicap itself, showing that talent makes no difference. Despite their handicap, those people, men and women, went beyond their limits in order to create outstanding masterpieces in favor to the world cultural heritage.

However, information and cancer prevention centers have been opened on the same occasion, and in addition to that drawing lots have been arranged with the aim to win the tickets of Gala Handicirque event which takes place in January 2012.

The employees could take an active part in the event as well, tasting sweet biscuits that were made by “Les Fourneaux de Marthe et Matthieu”, community and “help-by-work” centre (ESAT), a centre targeted on social and occupational reintegration of adult convalescents who had finished their studies.

“In general, the difference between individuals can cause fear, it can be disturbing or it can make them feel uneasy, because everybody has little knowledge of handicap,” maintains Fadila Mirghani, a partner of BlueLink Handicap Mission. “To speak about the diversity in a new and collective way makes it possible to keep the mentalities evolving and to change a point of view of the handicap itself in everyday life.”
